PANGAIA and MTIX have teamed up to develop a novel application of MTIX's multiplexed laser surface enhancement (MLSE®) technology to modify the surfaces of fibers within a fabric in such a way that prevents microfiber shedding. MLSE® rapidly alters textile surfaces in a high-energy reaction zone that is generated from combined high-powered pulsed ultraviolet laser and high-frequency electrical discharge plasma. The nano-level treatment reconstitutes would-be microfibers back into the fiber, resulting in stronger, cleaner fibers with restored integrity and uniformity, all without the use of any water or chemicals or the creation of waste.
